It’s Official! Criminal Minds’ Emily Prentiss Back Full Time at the BAU!

As Entertainment Weekly announced earlier today, what some of us have wanted since we heard she was guesting on several episodes this season has come true. Paget Brewster will be reprising her role as Emily Prentiss for the remainder of the season, beginning with episode 12×03.
Coming on the heels of Thomas Gibson’s firing, which divided and shocked the fandom, this news is welcome indeed. It has also fueled speculation that Emily would be slotted for Hotch’s Unit Chief position, as what other reason would she have for relinquishing her position as head of Interpol?
I for one hope it happens. Emily is perfectly qualified to run the Unit, and an excellent choice from a storytelling perspective, as well.

I hope they do make her the new Unit Chief. It would only make sense, in that she’d view that as a ‘promotion’ so to speak, as well as a chance to come back home to her friends Penelope, JJ, Dave and Spencer.

My heart is broken that we’ll get no more HOTCH – but that is all TG’s doing.
Finally some good news coming out about Criminal Minds!
I’m so glad Prentiss will be back full time! A bit sad that it’ll take Thomas/Hotch being gone to get Paget to come back as a series regular, but I’m still glad she’s back.
And I really hope Emily is the new unit chief. She’s the most qualified in my opinion and the best fit and I think it would be better to see someone we know in the Unit Chief role than a new character.

As much as I love Queen P, no one will ever be as good as Hotch. He was the ultimate FBI BAU leader. His lines and roles were delivered perfectly. I will miss him, his son and all that goes with him. Hotch’s journey should not end, but holiday, just in case some higher up changes their mind and allow him back. Here’s hoping.
Yeah, too bad TG couldn’t keep it together and respect his character as much as you do. The only way I could see him coming back is if he apologized to Virgil, made amends, and the two agreed to work together again. There’d need to be an understanding that if he pulled that shit again, he’d be gone for good.
I love Hotch too, but I DO NOT accept Thomas’s avoidance and his glib demeanor as any sort of an apology to Virgil, or to fans. His behavior took Hotch from us. He doesn’t get to play ‘Mr. Put-Upon Nice Guy’ now.
Anyway, this thread is for celebration of Emily and Paget!
I am so delighted that she’s coming back. She would be a perfect Unit Chief. This is the very tool CBS will need to save Criminal Minds. I still hope they retire Hotchner instead of taking two parents away from that little boy. It’s the only right thing to do. We have enough children without parents, let’s not continue writing it in, in a script.
I´m happy Prentiss returns full-time this season and I hope she will be the new BAU Unit Chief, but, in that case, who is going to be the new regular character that the show wants to introduce? If there is a new regular actor/actress, CM would have 8 cast members and any season has had that number of main characters (always 7 or 6). I hope that any original cast member says goodbye in this season.

WOW!! EMILY IS BACK….TO KICK UNSUB BUTT!! Sad, however, thai there won’t be any ‘Hotchniss’ moments. Let’s hope, there’ll be ‘Jemily’ moments, then. The writers shouldn’t kill HOTch (no error! ?), but maybe mention, that he and Jack have ‘gone underground’. We don’t need another orphan!

YAY PAGET! I’m really really hoping for Emily to be the new Unit Chief. It’ll suit well to the character’s storyline, to team dynamics AND to fans who are already mourning the loss of Thomas Gibson/Hotch.

hello everyone ,me i think that its excellent and wonderful if emily prentiss is the chief of the BAU. cant wait for to see season 12
It’s the only logical choice with Morgan gone. I’m going to miss Hotch, but this does make it better. I love the friendship that Prentis, JJ and Garcia have. It’s fun to watch.
The reason why this series was successful because everyone on it are great with their roll. Like Gracia said “The reason why they work because they are a family” and that rub off in their work. Morgan gone now Hotch. Their is no replacing any of them it won’t be the same. I will guarantee that when they do replace Hitch the rating is going to start dropping. We’ll give newbie a chance but with Morgan and Hitch I don’t know. I’m a die heart fan. Personally I think they both need to apologize to each other. It’s hard at times being around each other 24/7 for so long to going to get into it. That’s life it’s about getting past it and moving on. I love this cast like they are my family if it’s going to be broken up I don’t want to see it. Yea for Emily she earned that and more.
What do you think about the new CM regular addition?. In my opinion is the worst idea that CM has done. As I said in a previous comment on this post, probably one of the other cast members says goodbye in this season.
